Certificated Substitutes: Teachers
Substitute Teachers play an essential role in maintaining the District's continuity of instruction when regular classroom teachers are absent. Substitute Teachers work on-call/as-needed in half-day or full-day schedules. SUESD seeks dedicated, flexible, and student-centered candidates who are interested in supporting learning across our three campuses. Substitute teachers may serve in a variety of classroom settings, ranging from Preschool, TK-4th, and 5th-8th grade levels.
SUESD Substitute Teacher Requirements:
- Valid California Substitute Permit or Teaching Credential
- Complete LiveScan Background Check through TCOE
- Submit SUESD EDJOIN Substitute Teacher Application
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test Results
Full-Day Certificated Substitute Rate: $175/day
Half-Day Certificated Substitute Rate: $87.50/half-day
Long-Term Certificated Substitute Rate: $225/day beginning on 21st consecutive day
The District will post EDJOIN Substitute Teacher Job Postings at the beginning of each school semester. Please note that while the Strathmore Union Elementary School District considers all applicants who submit an application, the District will only contact selected candidates to move forward with the certificated subsitute process.
Classified Substitutes: Instructional Aides, Cafeteria Assistants, MOT Custodial
Classified Substitutes provide vital support services that help our school sites operate smoothly each day. Substitute opportunities are available in a variety of roles, such as instructional aides, cafeteria assistants, and custodial personnel. Classified substitutes are on-call/as-needed to fill in for regular staff and must be dependable, adaptable, and commit to supporting students and school operations.

| Please note that substitute Insructional Aides must have an AA, 48 units of college credits, or pass the Instructional Aide Assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
